ADVANCED HYPNOTHERAPY

Sharon was trained by:

Andrew Newton, one of the most successful hypnotists in the world. Andrew spent 30 years as a stage and television hypnotist before moving into the field of clinical hypnotherapy.

Barrie St. John. Harley Street London. Member of the British Association of Therapeutic Hypnosis. British Association of Counseling and Psychotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest therapeutic arts. Ancient cultures from around the globe have used deep relaxation and trance techniques to restore health and harmony to the body and mind

HISTORY

Hypnosis first received attention when it was introduced in the 18th century by FRANZ ANTON MESMER.

In 1841 DR. JAMES BRAID improved upon Mesmer’s techniques. It was James Braid who coined the phrase Hypnosis.

During the 1900’s this research was continued by DR. PIERRE JANET. It was his contribution that caused the British Medical Association to investigate this new method of healing. However it wasn’t until the 1950’s that hypnosis was used in main-stream medicine. Hypnosis is now one of the few therapies taught in conventional medical schools. It is considered to be very useful for encouraging healing and altering mental states.

SELF-HYPNOSIS

This is taught as a tool for the individual to manage stress, anxiety, obesity, phobias and pain.

THEORY AND PRACTICE.

The hypnotic trance is a natural occurrence, it is the state between sleeping and waking. During this state we are able to access inner information in the brain.

Conscious Mind.  Logic language. Left Brain.

Emotions.  Symbols.  Creativity. Right Brain.

Using the correct words during hypnosis, the right brain is reached thus allowing activity in both halves.

Hypnotherapy still suffers at times from the old stage hypnotist shows. These shows are done for entertainment value only.

Hypnotherapy has been used successfully for generations to promote healing, and is one of the most scientifically endorsed therapies.

FACTS AND MYTHS

Hypnotherapy is completely safe.
Modern hypnotherapy does not depend upon deep trance.
A qualified hypnotherapist will not take advantage of their position of trust.
The client is never forced to do anything which they find unacceptable.
The client is never left “in limbo”.
Hypnotherapy is not suitable for people under the influence of alcohol or drugs. (Unless prescribed by a physician).

USE OF HYNOTHERAPY.

Hypnosis is able to draw upon the vast resources of the unconscious mind. It is successful in helping a wide range of problems. A few examples are;

  • Anxiety and allied symptoms.
  • Panic Attacks.
  • Addictions. Cessation of smoking
  • Depression. Stress and related issues.
  • Weight Loss.
  • Phobias

REGRESSION THERAPY

The root cause of a problem may lie in an incident buried in the past.
During the security of light hypnotic trance, the client is able to "revisit” such events. This brings an understanding of how they were dealt with and how they may continue to influence the present day.

INNER CHILD WORK

All of us have been children and locked within us, the little child remains.
This may be for better or worse. It remains our personal history, the symbol of our hopes and dreams. It is of great value if we are able to reconnect with the playful loveable and often vulnerable child that lies within each of us.
This is done during hypnosis by reconnecting again to that child and with them reframing any negative incident so that a current, positive outcome is reached

JUNG

In every adult there lurks a child -
An eternal child, something that is always becoming is never completed, and calls for unceasing care, attention, and education.

This is part of the human personality that wants to develop and become whole.
